LONG ASS TABLE TALKS – LAT* Talks for short – is an interview series featuring people who inspire us with different perspectives. In this debut episode, Expensify’s Joanie Wang and Puneet Lath interview Trevor Noah, award-winning host of The Daily Show. With his comically insightful point of view, Trevor discusses representation, cancel culture, and what it means to be “self-made.”
Role: Creative Development Assistant
Company: PRETTYBIRD
PRETTYBIRD asked me to create a layout for Sam Bailey’s director treatment. As a huge fan of Trevor Noah’s work, I was honored to have a chance to work on this project. I wanted the design to emphasize the importance of inclusive spaces while also visually showing just how welcoming and vibrant these spaces are. Here is my process for creating the deck.
I was inspired by the sunny landscapes of Los Angeles and tying in with the idea of community, I wanted to give my pitch deck a cheerful design aesthetic while remaining down-to-earth and accessible. So I researched pictures of summertime, barbecues, and inclusive spaces and compiled over a hundred images in a folder, with different categories like “Trevor Noah,” and “Long Ass Table.” Additionally, I watched other talk shows that were hosted by POC for reference. I wanted the pitch deck to be fun, friendly, and overflowing with color.
